Ingredients

10 chicken drumsticks

1 cup BBQ sauce (preferably a spicy variant)

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust for heat preference)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon honey (for glazing)

Fresh cilantro, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prep the Chicken: Rinse the chicken drumsticks under cold running water and pat them dry with paper towels. This helps the skin to get crispy and allows the marinade to stick better.

Make the Marinade: In a large mixing bowl, combine the BBQ sauce, olive oil, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well blended.

Marinate the Drumsticks: Add the chicken drumsticks to the bowl and toss them in the marinade until they are evenly coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or ideally overnight for maximum flavor.

Preheat the Grill or Oven: If using a grill, preheat it to medium-high heat (about 375°F / 190°C). If using an oven, preheat to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easier cleanup.

          Cook the Chicken:

            - For Grilling: Place the marinated drumsticks on the preheated grill. Cook for about 25-30 minutes, turning them every 5-7 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through and has a nice char. For added flavor, brush some extra BBQ sauce on the chicken during the last few minutes of cooking.

              - For Baking: Arrange the drumsticks on the baking sheet. Bake for 35-40 minutes, flipping halfway through and basting with the leftover marinade. In the last 5 minutes, brush the drumsticks with honey for a glossy finish.

Check for Doneness: The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C). Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Garnish and Serve: Optionally, sprinkle with chopped fresh cilantro for a pop of color and flavor. Serve hot along with extra BBQ sauce on the side for dipping.
