Ingredients

1 large round loaf of bread (sourdough or Italian)

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tablespoon dried parsley)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

Optional: 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes for a spicy kick

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Loaf: Place the round loaf of bread on a cutting board. Using a serrated knife, make deep cuts in a crisscross pattern across the top of the bread, making sure not to cut all the way through the bottom. Aim for about 1-inch sections.

Make the Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, fresh parsley, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well to combine.

Stuff the Bread: Carefully pull open the cuts in the bread and brush the garlic butter mixture generously all over the inside and outside of the loaf. Be sure to get into the cracks between the pieces.

Add the Cheese: Insert the mozzarella and cheddar cheese into the cuts of the bread, filling each section generously.

Wrap for Baking: Wrap the entire loaf in aluminum foil, ensuring it is tightly covered so the steam can help melt the cheese as it bakes.

Bake: Place the wrapped loaf directly on the oven rack and bake for 15-20 minutes. If you want a crispy top, remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and the top is golden.

Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool for a minute before serving. Pull apart pieces of the cheesy, garlicky bread and enjoy!
