Creating uniform meatballs is essential for even cooking and a delightful dining experience. Start by lightly oiling your hands to prevent the meat mixture from sticking. Scoop out a portion of the mixture—about two tablespoons for each meatball—using a spoon or your hands. Roll it between your palms gently, applying just enough pressure to form a smooth ball without compressing it too tightly.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey for a lighter option)

1 cup fresh spinach, chopped (or ½ cup frozen spinach, thawed and drained)

1 cup breadcrumbs (Italian seasoned for extra flavor)

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 large egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

2 cups marinara sauce (for dipping or serving)

Optional: fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef (or turkey), chopped spinach, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and half of the mozzarella cheese.

Add the egg, minced garlic, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to the mixture. Use your hands to mix everything together until well combined, but be careful not to overmix.

Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1-1.5 inches in diameter, and place them evenly spaced on the prepared baking sheet.

Once all the meatballs are formed, sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top of each meatball for a delicious cheesy crust.

Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and reach an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).

Heat the marinara sauce in a small saucepan while the meatballs are baking.

Serve the meatballs warm, drizzled with marinara sauce for dipping, and garnish with fresh basil if desired.
