Ingredients

1 large French baguette or ciabatta loaf

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

4 large cloves of garlic, minced

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped

1 tablespoon fresh basil, finely chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried basil)

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Optional: 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder for extra flavor

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Bread: Slice the baguette in half lengthwise. If using ciabatta, cut it into thick slices or in half, depending on your preference.

Make the Garlic Butter: In a medium bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, basil, oregano, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined, ensuring the garlic is evenly distributed throughout the butter.

Spread the Mixture: Generously spread the garlic butter mixture over the cut sides of the bread. Make sure to cover all edges for even flavor distribution.

Add Cheese: If you’re using Parmesan cheese, sprinkle it evenly over the spread butter for added richness and flavor.

Wrap and Bake: Place the garlic bread on a baking sheet, cut side up. For extra crispiness, wrap the bread loosely in aluminum foil to retain moisture while it bakes. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.

Crisp and Serve: After 15 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the edges are golden and crisp. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before slicing into individual pieces.

Enjoy: Serve warm, either as an appetizer, side dish, or a delicious accompaniment to pasta dishes or salads!
